whoa... i've been slacking. end story. no excuses.

i'm on it now though and should be updating more often.

but that's just me. so now i'm on it. 

i've applied for grad school, gotten a job, and i am thoroughly enjoying my last semester as an undergrad. 

recently i've been stalking cool things... i've given in and purchased two kor one hydration vessels

and i want these things:

like....

i could handle this in my life... (peep the ceiling)

last night was a good night.
i got to see friends i haven't seen in a while. id say it was a successful first party... the is the only picture i have from the entire evening. i never did get around to doing my hair...

where the hell did haley joel osmont go?

friday afternoon (i never do much in the afternoon due to the heat) I watched pay it forward… and it still is as good as ever. and haley joel osmont, can we just remember how good that kid is (was?)… the part where his mom smacked him after he set up the date with his teacher. and the ending… I couldn’t have been more embarrassed sobbing on my couch.

I also had chawarma… and was it great.

after my chawarma induced coma, i went to the medina. i walked there and walked around for about 2 hours then caught a cab back, it was hot...! about 10 minutes after kaouther called and we all went out walking again.... and i had chawarma again. its still great.

saturdays are cleaning days, i did just that... then satuday night i went to a ray charles tribute concert in el jem for work. it was very good... i have some footage ill attempt to post somewhere.

sunday was good, tired from the night before i attempted to sleep in and didnt

we went to a lunch (a farewell lunch for a lady at amideast) at an italian resturaunt... it was good.

i loveeee food.

weekend, last weekend

this is my last weekend in sousse.
saturday night im going to a ray charles tribute concert in el jem (!?!) and then sunday i have a lunch and my landlord is coming to check the place/give me my security deposit back. maybe i will catch some beach and photographing time in between all this...
no internet for the weekend ever.

i love chawarma! ive had it two days in a row... maybe this is why tunisia gave me weight (i still blame it on: 1. kaouther and her wonderful cooking and 2. zeineb and her peer pressure) i wouldn't change a thing about it though eat, drink, and be merry

finally getting my act together

yes, i am finally posting. i am still in tunisia. and i spend alot of time online.

i have/find too many ideas to not share. so this will be my own online documentation.

i would like to be "green" when i can, but honestly why is everything so expensive?

i still want one of these Hydration vessels (by KOR Water) and i absolutely adore this lap top bag by Hard Graft (workingclassheroes.eu) and yes i snagged these from Top 10 Green Office Supplies.
I love etsy.com? i discovered it this summer and its great, all the handmade stuff and reasonably priced.

Back to School Soon

So... this large gloomy black cloud looms over me for the month of August- preseason starts soon (August 14th to be exact), much to my dismay. I just remember that I have survived 3 of these things and this is my last one! I need to get in shape, which means running alot for the next 8 days, so I can act like I've been doing this all summer. I've been playing soccer all summer but I have to run, I've been slacking on that and therefore have gained some extra pounds. Every year I somehow make it happen, as long as I'm not last its all good.

I turned 21, much fun. So I order drinks when I can, just because I can. I got a new car stereo with ipod attachment (from Sean), delphi gps (from Frank), and other cool random stuff from Mom and friends. My dad is running a little behind on my gift, but its all good. Sean's birthday is today, we adopted kittens (Darth Vader and T. Rex) and I bought him one of them and tons of cat stuff for his birthday. They are quite awesome little ones, three months old and so cute (I'll post pics soon).

Full day camp has ended so I have free time during the day. I'm working a goalkeeper camp this week with BJ but ists at night. I need to do so much before school- pack, get loans, get stuff for school, and new cleats. The barrage of August birthdays always kills me (Frank and Sean's) I am probably taking Frank for his first tattoo for his birthday... $50 towards one. He finally has a job... a model at Abercrombie, there goes his ego. Oh but Radiohead is August 12th so should be great.

Life As It Is

Well… I am still alive and lots of things have changed, Turkey lost in Euro 2008- Spain won... its all good. I now have a car—1998 Honda Accord, and a job—camp counselor at a soccer camp. So I drive to work and play soccer with kids from 9am-3pm. I happen to love it, and will love doing it for the next five weeks. I get to pick camper of the day and camper of the week, play soccer all day, and teach kids to play. My favorite part of the day is tying shoes for six year olds. Oh and I get paid for doing what I love. It is a bit tiring though.

I visited Maine and it was amazing, maybe I'll post pictures. I finally have my soccer tournament this upcoming weekend, we’ll have to see how it goes.

EURO 2008

I love the fact that soccer (yes i know football) has been on continuously and ESPN (and ESPN2) has been covering most of the games. I am so excited, it sure fills up the monotony that I now know as my life! So big news, which I love is TURKEY is going to the semis!! The sad (and depressing) thing is the two teams I wanted to see in the finals, Portugal and Netherlands, were defeated. So, right now its anyone's tournament... sure as hell surprised me. I was unable to watch the majority of Friday's Portugal (lost to Germany, Ronaldo: remember the time Germany almost was elimated?) game and today's Netherlands (Russia won!?!? Where were your Van Nistelrooy?) game due to yard sale madness (I'll tell later) but I will be sure to catch it on ESPN360.com to get the full story of these uspets (in my eyes). So... Spain v. Italy and Turkey v. Germany... I want a Spain/Turkey final personally. Soccer has provided much entertainment (once again) in this time of need (I've become a bit OCD and have began to clean... alot). I LOVE IT!

So, along my travels of doing nothing all the time it seems like, I've come across some very interesting/intriguing things. I have a undying obsession with Buckminster Fuller (architect, designer, inventor, visionary-the creator of the geodesic dome) and I came across these magnificent bowls by Peter Hils- the Cut'n Go Bucky Bowls. I love and want it dearly (hint, hint). It's fresh and it folds flat, what more could you want in a bowl? (buy it here) Oh and isn't it beautiful?



and for more awesome stuff, there's always ROMP which has the coolest crap I've seen. "ROMP is about play – from play with toys to play in the design of our homes."

UISP

You never really know what something is like until you experience it.
That's how I feel at least. Sometime in the Fall semester, I received notice that I had been nominated to be in the University International Scholars Program. Not knowing what this was, I went to the interest meeting. This was in fact the chance of a life time, an awesome proposal to be apart of this group (after an application and interview process) which would travel abroad in May 2008 to Tunisia and Istanbul, Turkey. I basically did everything in my power to become a member of this group and after a much anticipated decision, I was chosen. I could say that I was going to Tunisia and Turkey.
The group met weekly with our fearless leaders, Jim and Marcella (aka Black Diamond), during our 11-1 free session. During this time we learned about stuff, mainly Islam and how it is practiced in the countries we were to visit and here in the U.S. We also went on a weekend bonding retreat in Buckeysville (or Buckeystown), MD so we could get to know each other better (and the elders knew we could be trusted/get along). It was a high ropes course in the middle of bumblefuck (which is located just west of English Muffin Way). We stayed at a Christian retreat camp in a creepy farmhouse, but I made it out alive. We basically did trust/bonding/getting to know each other exercises. Overall it was a good time, and it was something we needed, because honestly, no one knew anyone else. After the trip we were a group, UISP to be exact. Another prerequisite to the trip was community service- 20 hours. As a group we decided to do a 420 hour fast, each of us would fast 36 hours, in order to raise money for a mosque with a food program in Philadelphia. We all did it, raising over $1400.
